Alex was so excited for his camping trip, he slept in his sleeping bag the night before

Alex's preschool had an exhibit at the fair, his class did the mice on wall

Alex's first mini- roller coaster ride. He was very disappointed not to be tall enough to ride the steering wheel (aka the ferris wheel)

Saturday, October 6

Just wanted to give a quick update on Alex and what we have been up to! He has started pre- school three mornings a week and really loves it. There have only been a few mornings that he has been reluctant to go, but usually he is very excited. We can already tell a difference in how he acts around other children- he is more talkative with them and knows how to interact and play with them better. It has also helped him that we had some children move in next door and he loves playing with the little girl- she is 6 years old and has a very fun Barbie car.
One funny story is that Alex and I have been playing educational games on the computer for months. He would tell me the answers on the games but seemingly could not use the mouse, and when I would try to get him to do it he would not. Well, last Saturday Chris went to see what we have been doing and tells Alex to try and do it himself. So Alex just starts moving the mouse around and playing the games by himself like he has been doing it all the time! He has apparently been tricking me.. or Chris just has the magic touch. I think Chris needs to work on this stuff with him more often. Today, after I have spent so many months working with Alex on his drawing and writing skills, he sits down and draws for Chris a great stick figure picture of our family (including our dog Maggie). That may not seem amazing to you, but he does little more than scribbling most times and has never drawn a stick figure for me before!
This happens a lot where it seems like he is not catching on to something, and then one day he does it perfectly. It reminds me that I don't need to be worrying because Alex is learning things in his own time. It also reminds me, once again, that I'm not in control- only God is.

Happy Birthday, Chris!
