Wednesday, Jan 10th

The end is in sight. We will head home Jan 20th...the three of us...a new family that began on Christmas Day when we told the orphanage director that we wanted to adopt Alex. It has been quite a story that began approximately 2 years ago, and now will soon enter a new chapter (no blog included).

Our blogging will probably end on Monday because Tuesday begins the 24 hour days of Alex. We are continually amazed and encouraged by the support we receive on the blog comments. So many family and friends and friends of friends actually keep up with this thing and care about what is going on in our little lives on the other side of the world. Seeing those comments from people, some of whom we never thought were reading, has encouraged us to blog more often and in more detail.

As most of you know, we are committed to following the path that we feel God is leading us on. When God said we should adopt from Ukraine, we said O.K.... Two years later, along a road full of trials and triumphs, here we are. In these last few days in Lugansk, we will try to post some journal entries telling the story of how we dealt with God on some issues we faced since we've been here. Hopefully you will be enriched and encouraged in reading them.

We'll start with a small portion of one entry...

Chris - Dec. 20th (written after being in Ukraine 7 days and turning down our first referral)
Today I read Colossians 1:9-14, which talks about Paul praying for the church asking God to give them wisdom and understanding so that they may live a life pleasing to God, that they will be strengthened with his power, and that they will have great endurance and patience. These are things we need and pray for at this time. I don't understand what God's plan is for us. He seems to only give us small glimpses of His plan at a time. I'm O.K. with the decision we made yesterday, and I look forward to finding out who we will end up adopting.

everytime i read your comments, I am amazed at how much you and Chris have put your faith in God. It is a true testimony to both of you and the power of Christ in your lives. I have looked foward to reading your stories. Having Logan far away and in the Military, it gives me strength to read of other trials and other peoples faith in God and prayer. what a blessing you have been in my life.

Thank you so much for sharing Chris' journal entry. It was very encouraging. I was talking with someone last night about a Corrie ten Boom book I've been reading and had made the statement that people sharing GOD's truth and word in the context of personal experience seems to teach us so much more than any theological discussion or sermon. It's good to see feet on GOD's word. Thank you for sharing a very special and personal part of your lives with us! We love you guys!

Kim and Chris,
Thank you for sharing your insights. I think that's how God reveals Himself to us through the lives of others persuing Him. I want you to know how much my mom enjoyed reading your blog while in the hospital. I would print it out and bring it to her. She went to be with the Lord on Fri. but she was given the joy of knowing the adoption for Alex was near completion. Gail

Thanks so much for sharing your story with us! I've been praising the Lord for your story and giving testimony of His goodness. Will you please let me know what time you think you will land in Atl. on 1/20? Since I live close by, I'd like to try to meet you all at the airport. Ken and I have a commitment that evening. I hope it will work out for me (or us) to make it, though! Love, Annie

Hey Guys, The pictures you all posted are great, it looks like you're having a blast. Chris there was one picture of you that looked almost like you are glowing. When we saw it Jody said, "I don't think I've ever seen Chris smile that big"...and, I'd have to agree! I'm so excited that the long wait is over, and the long adventure to Ukraine is almost over. Pretty soon your plane will be touching down and you guys can settle in as a new family! I can't wait for you guys to get back.

Blessed Indeed!

God is so great. He gives us the most difficult but amazing circumstances and then gives us the grace, wisdom, and faith to get through them. Such rich blessings that we don't deserve. How sad for those who have no hope in Christ. Congratulations on your soon to be 24 hour family. I know you can't wait! We look forward to meeting Alex when ya'll get back.

God bless
