I hope everyone is having a great summer. We are enjoying ours, although it has been very hot and dry. Sasha just had his last day of swim lessons, and he really enjoyed those. He loves being in in water. He did really well- he can doggy paddle (while barking like a dog)! My parents have a pool at their neighborhood, and so does my neighbor, so I think we will be spending a lot of time there this summer.
It's hard to believe Sasha will be turning 5 next month. Time is going by quickly, yet at the same time it seems like we have been home with him for so much longer than 5 months. We have enrolled in him preschool for the fall, and he will be going 3 mornings a week. I decided I will just work at home with him the other days. I think that will work out perfect... and I'm not ready to completely give up my days at home with him!
We did have a happy milestone a few weeks ago that I wanted to share. I had been talking to one of my friends about how the sweetest thing for me to hear is my child's laughter. She was saying that for her it was when her child told her he loved her completely unprompted, etc.. Sasha had yet to do that. He would only really say it when we said it to him and then asked him to say it back to us. About a week later I was sitting to eat lunch with him and he just said out of the blue "I love you Mama", and the next day he said it to Chris and me both. It was so sweet. Now he says it often... when I pick him up or hug him. Of course, he also says it when he is in the naughty chair. It's hard to stay upset with him then, and he knows it!!
Well, I've managed to type this whole thing with Sasha playing cars on my lap. Not too bad!

Kim and Chris, I so enjoy your updates on Sasha. You are doing such a wonderful job, and he sounds like a very happy well-adjusted little boy. Almost 5! Wow! Keep enjoying every minute with him, and keep posting updates. As a reminder, I am Claire's cousin, her mom Alice and my dad were brother and sister. I got teary when I read what you wrote about him telling you he loves you, spontaneously, and even when in the naughty chair. Haha!

How sweet it must have been to hear those magical words. I can not believe you guys have been home with Sasha for 5 months now. Isn't it hard to remember the days before Sasha?? We miss you guys and hope to see you all very soon!

We still vist your blog to keep up with Sasha's progress, and can't get over how fast he is adjusting to his new life. Sounds like things are going great, and we're so happy for your family!
